WACO, Texas- The Carlson Law Firm is proud to announce that Carlson Cares, the charitable program, alongside sponsors, was able to give about 150 backpacks on Saturday, July 30 to Waco students. All backpacks given were supplied with tools needed for school-aged students, ranging from notebooks, pencils, and other necessities to conquer the upcoming school year.

“We are thankful for all our sponsors who helped us with our mission of bettering the lives of Texans one day at a time,” said partner Dominic. “It is always a pleasure being able to help out any way we can, and eliminating one expense for the upcoming school year means we were able to form in some way.”
After two years, we still face the global pandemic’s repercussions. As families gear up for the upcoming school year, a price change in school supplies has been noticed as retailers continue to recover from the pandemic. Although this may not create a barrier for families who can typically afford these types of supplies, it’s furthering the gap for low-income families who may have already struggled to buy the right supplies for their children. As of 2019, the Waco residents with income below the poverty level in 2019 was 25.8%.
“This is our second year having the opportunity to hold a backpack giveaway,” said managing partner Craig Carlson. “Each year, we aim to give away more backpacks than the previous year, and we are very fortunate to have accomplished our goal this year. We hope to make a bigger contribution next year and help as many students as possible. “
In addition to the backpack giveaway, families gathered Saturday morning at the firm’s new location for other fun activities. In addition to free backpacks, families enjoyed Kona Ice, Chick-Fil-A, games and prizes, and the opportunity to participate in a coloring contest to win four tickets to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor water park.
