SAN ANTONIO – The Carlson Law Firm team from our two San Antonio locations joined forces to help the San Antonio Food Bank in its mission to provide meals to families across southwest Texas. To help the food bank, our team helped sort, organize and pack non-perishable food items for families in need of a warm meal.
The Carlson Law Firm staff then helped distribute packaged boxes to families in need. Families received pasta, canned tuna, dried fruit, in addition to other non-perishable and perishable items.
The Food Bank receives an equivalent of one semi-trailer full of food every hour to distribute to 530 other nonprofits across 16 counties.
“In an assembly form line format, we filled boxes with different food productions that are used to be distributed around San Antonio,” said The Carlson’s Law Firm partner, Edna Elizondo. “It really was a group effort to be able to run smoothly. We are thankful to have the opportunity to help out the San Antonio communities alongside the Food Bank.”
The San Antonio food bank fulfills the need of serving more than 120,000 individuals each week. Even during the pandemic, the food bank never gave up on its mission to feed southwest Texas families. Texas is ranked second in the nation for food insecurity—with approximately one in six individuals living in food-insecure homes. However, the demand increased with the start of the pandemic.
“No child, individual, and family should ever have to worry about where their next meal will come from,” Elizondo said. “We support the work that the Food Bank is doing for our communities and making sure that families are fed in Southwest Texas.”
